Welcome to Brick & Mortar Corner – a collection of blog posts, tools and resources designed specifically to meet the marketing needs of the small business owner!
If you know me personally, you know how much a role fear plays in my life. I’ve learned through the years that it’s okay when we push ourselves to the point of fear and discomfort that we grow.
Lean into fear. It’s always worth it.
When I started this business a little over a year ago things happened FAST. And things haven’t slowed down until just NOW (thanks COVID). I have loved and appreciated the insane whirlwind the last year has been but the craziness of working, taking care of the kids, and maintaining my household didn’t leave much time to be scared.
But now that I have a moment to breathe, I find myself sitting here asking myself NOW WHAT? Though there doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with the way I’ve been doing things, that question brings to light the thing that I’ve been lacking – capacity.
I love working with businesses one-on-one. It’s given me an enormous amount of experience across a wide variety of business types but I’m only one person with one person’s time. I want to grow this business to help as many small business owners as I can and the current model doesn’t leave much capacity for that.
I do what I do because I love helping people and I want to help as many businesses as I can. The last year has proven that small business owners need help.
Small business owners are a crazy ambitious group. They’re also amazingly overworked and frequently overwhelmed. Running a business requires a lot more than being an expert at ONE craft. It means being an expert at the thing you specialize in and 15 other things. Like accounting. Social media. Web design. And though some business owners really do need me to come in and take over, the majority of them just want someone to tell them what to do. Expert guidance from someone they trust.
Even more, as businesses who were successful prior to COVID begin to struggle and the businesses that were struggling pre-COVID start to drown, the need becomes even greater. One of the things that makes a business successful is the ability to adapt as needs of the consumer change and that’s where I am now.
PIVOT. It’s time to pivot.
This is where that whole fear thing comes in. It’s time do work on something new. A new way of reaching business owners. A new way of helping people. A new way of doing business. Lean into fear. It’s always worth it.
I spent the last week blowing up my horribly neglected website and replaced it with something beautiful and functional.
I have a plan to pack it with everything a small business owner needs to make their particular business successful. It will start with blog posts and later will come guides, templates, forms, how-tos, and strategy ideas – everything small business owners need to get themselves set up with a systematic and executable marketing strategy.
I won’t stop taking one-on-one consulting and coaching clients but now I have a new channel to reach and help even more people.
BONUS: I really love content marketing. It’s fun and why not do something you enjoy?!
